DevOps Engineer

Who We Are:
Phase2 is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have experience supporting the design of technical solutions by implementing scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructures. Our DevOps Engineers are expected to be strong executors of the DevOps mystic arts as well as teach teams to leverage the infrastructure and tooling it provides. Our perfect candidate loves teaching others, documenting their work, and has an intrinsic focus on designing sustainable, reusable solutions


This role operates with a high degree of autonomy and is expected to work collaboratively with tech and project leads to help develop solutions commensurate with both the needs and budgets of those projects. Phase2 moves fast and we expect our DevOps Engineers to bring innovation and imagination to the table. This candidate must be a US citizen.

Do you have the following qualifications?

  • Architecting & executing the delivery of scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure for development team and clients.
  • Developing documentation, diagrams, and training documents that empower developers and technical users to leverage infrastructure.
  • Developing automated and repeatable deployment systems, staging and production environments.
  • Developing standardized and well documented high availability configurations.
  • Collaborating with engineers and developers to document & ideate on systems & network design requirements for application architecture.
  • Experience identifying and providing implement optimizations that improve performance and/or capacity and capture these as well documented or deployable best practices.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with the engineering team and project managers
  • Estimating tasks and build outs, while operating within defined project schedules.
  • 2+ years full-time (or significant experience) as a Linux systems administrator
  • Demonstrable experience with GIT version control
  • Puppet/Ansible configuration management or experience with other configuration management tools (please provide examples)
  • Experience with the components of a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) or LEMP (Linux, NGINX, MySQL, PHP) stack
  • Experience building RPM packages.
  • Experience with multi-server hosting environments (N-Tier, sharding, scaling, failover).
  • Experience with caching & high availability configuration techniques.
  • Strong understanding of the software development and release process.
  • Communicating technical information in a clear, non technical manner.
  • Experience working with AWS products.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

It would be great if you also had the following:

  • Experience with general administration of Red Hat and Debian based Linux distributions.
  • Experience with the Atlassian development products, in particular, Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with Vagrant environments.
  • Experience building and deploying Docker containers.
  • AWS certification in devops or system Architecture.
  • Experience deploying applications using Docker.
  • Experience with LDAP.
  • RHCE certification.
